Sioux Falls Canaries Stadium

Architecture Incorporated cleared more than a few hurdles on its way to creating the crown jewel of South Dakota's professional sports facilities. The firm worked with a task force comprised of City Officials, civic leaders and the team's ownership group to assess the existing facility. The project only allowed for construction during eight months of the stadium's off-season, yet was completed in time for the team's home opener on June 2, 2000. Wrought iron design details carried throughout the entrance, railings and scoreboard unify the look of nostalgia. A wrap-around single-level concourse creates a sense of enclosure for this dramatically open space. The built-in charm, aided by a quartzite-like perimeter wall in a nod to locally quarried stone, so enamored fans near and far that USA Today devoted a half page of national coverage to this minor league ballpark with major league amenities.
