HARRISBURG FRESHMAN ACADEMY

The new Harrisburg Freshman Academy addresses several key needs for the district, primarily by providing much-needed space to accommodate the growing student body, with a specific focus on the freshman class, who now all attend this school. The expansion and modernization of facilities have alleviated overcrowding and improved the overall learning environment.

The project includes a new gymnasium with locker rooms, a kitchen and commons area, and dedicated classrooms for specialized subjects like band and orchestra, family and consumer science (FACs), woodworking, and art. Additionally, the school has a small black box theater for performing arts, a media center to support digital learning, and upgraded administrative spaces. With two floors of classrooms, the school is better equipped to serve its students' academic needs across a range of subjects.

Master planning for the future of the Harrisburg Freshman Academy has also been a key component of this project, with plans to add more spaces as the district continues to grow. Future plans include expanding the gym and locker room facilities, adding a larger theater, creating more music rooms, and providing additional specialty and general classroom space to ensure that the school can continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of its students.
