DELL RAPIDS CITY AND COMMUNITY HALL
In 2022, the City of Dell Rapids acquired the building at 317 East 4th Street with plans to convert the main level into a new city hall and the lower level into a community event space. This project addressed the need for a modern city hall and a versatile venue for events.
The building was previously home to Northwest Bank and later Wells Fargo. To preserve its history, several original features were retained, such as repurposing the bank vault into a conference room and keeping the original vault door. The original night drop box has also been preserved and is currently being utilized by the city for secure overnight bill payments. Additionally, old jail doors from the previous city hall were incorporated into the design to maintain the building’s historic charm.
The new city hall now offers a modern meeting space for city functions, along with nine offices. The event space on the lower level includes a bar, catering kitchen, restrooms, and an elevator. It is designed to accommodate up to 150 people.
